After the Boston Massacre, Patriots used images and rhetoric to help unite the colonies against Britain. What started as a minor fight became known as the spark that ignited the Revolutionary War. Several examples of Patriot propaganda are shown below.

Revere deliberately exaggerated the incident by adding inaccurate details to the engraving. Some are minor, but others are very significant . He created a powerful image that influenced public opinion and became the most effective piece of war propaganda in American history.
